Growing up mixed race and then living as an immigrant across Hong Kong, India, Australia, the UK, and now the US, Keshia was always drawn to how belonging and assimilation affect identity.

Her work as an environmental advocate, building communities across the world with womens’ safety organization Camel Assembly and innovation platform Mettā, story craft on stages like the United Nations with Dear World, plus over a decade in media, has culminated in a passion and skill in ensuring stories are shared in a just and authentic way, predominantly by those who have lived the news.

Keshia currently serves as Editor in Chief for Asian media platform Eastern Standard Times.

ADVOCATE

Keshia became known as a womens’ rights advocate after building global women’s platform Camel Assembly, a 5500 strong collective of diverse womxn, alongside activist and founder Yelda Ali. She is also known as a sustainability activist, having worked, written and created around food security and systems while in Asia and then devoting her time to advocacy around plastic awareness and intersectional environmentalism.

Keshia was featured on the cover of Tatler Magazine as one of the “seven entrepreneurs, creatives and disruptors changing the face of Hong Kong”

CAMEL ASSEMBLY
Camel Assembly’s mission is to see people #MarchingDaily, channeling the passion and vehemence of a protest or march into everyday efforts towards self and community. Camel Assembly has been standing for diverse women for half a decade - from amplifying voices to creating opportunities for giving back - working with brands who share that same mission. Partners have included Google, The New York Times, Deloitte, WeWork, Burton and Soundcloud, amongst others.

ENVIRONMENTALISM
Keshia began her work in the sustainability space when she began working on a eco-friendly magazine called Junkee in Australia in 2011. She went on to write about food systems during her time as a food writer in Hong Kong, whereafter she organised and curated the first month-long symposium in Asia in 2016, which included workshops between the Hong Kong government and members of the sustainability and F&B space around food waste (the first of its kind). In 2018 Keshia and prolific designer Tom Herron created an installation for World Environment Day with the United Nations, and was named one of 18 female ‘earth defenders’ for Pipeline Magazine, alongside other activists such as Nimco Ali and Ellie Goulding.
